As the temperature drops and the days get shorter, it’s always tempting to stay indoors or exercise less. However, staying active throughout the colder months can help beat those seasonal blues and continue keeping you fit and healthy.
Good nutrition and regular activity support general wellbeing and maximizes immunity.
With many of us feeling the pinch, memberships to gyms, groups or exercise classes could be in jeopardy. Fear not, there are lots of options costing little or no money.
To mark ‘Self Care Week 2022,’ we want to promote several resources and opportunities to help us all move about more, without breaking the bank. Resources include FREE home workouts, activities on a budget and an activity finder highlighting lots of opportunities in your area. From Park Play for families to Walking Football, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. In turn it helps prioritise our mental wellbeing and reduce daily stresses.
Regular exercise makes you feel energetic, which should make it a little easier to get out of bed on cold dark mornings; research also suggests moderate activity can strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of coughs and colds.
Remember to warm up 10 minutes before any exercise, it’ll reduce the risk of muscle strain.
